Did you know that we spend eight years and four months of our life merely watching TV? Cannot believe this. But this is true!!!

How We Spend Our Life?

According to a study by Clockify, this is how we spend time during our entire life:

  • Eight years and four months are watching TV.
  • Seven years are trying to fall asleep.
  • Six years either on social media or on holiday.
  • Four years and six months eating.
  • One year and four months of exercising.
  • One year and three days socializing.

Amazing! Let us see some more statistics.

time management in life

Human Resources study says that we spend 2 hours 11 minutes procrastinating on an average daily – we text for 28 minutes, daydream for another 20 minutes, gossip for 18 minutes, and use Facebook for 16 minutes.

So, is it any surprise that we always think, “I wish I had more time”?

Managing Time at the Start of Professional Life

While a student, life is easy, and you can easily afford this kind of indulgence. But when professional life starts, a significant schedule change comes in. The type of program you follow as a student suddenly does not work anymore. Getting up earlier than before, travelling to your workplace, and returning after 9 to 5 jobs can be truly hectic.

Did you know that, as per Dovico90% of the freshers stop attending the health and fitness club within the first 90 days of their joining? 40% start skipping their breakfast, and 39% skip lunch to adjust to the new schedule.

The result?

You skip your breakfast in a hurry to reach the office on time, skip lunch to complete work on time. And you have no time to go to your fitness club because you arrive home late. As a result of all these, you start developing health issues.

But does that mean you are doing great at work? Perhaps no!

Time Management at Work

Statistics by Cornerstone Dynamics show that 80% of your average working day is on activities with little or no value, such as repeated phone calls due to missed information and other colleagues’ interruptions… And the total duration of the time lost is as much as 3 hours per day. It is the reason that you achieve less despite working hard for a full day.

And all these result in your workload getting accumulated to the point that it becomes overwhelming… And you feel stressed!  It has been reported by The American Institute of Stress that an overwhelming workload causes 46% of stress in employees. Other potential work time-related stress comes from meeting deadlines and long working hours.

Also, apart from professional disappointment and health issues, this impacts personal and social life.

So, what is going wrong? What is it that is causing so many problems?

The solution to all these problems is one – being able to manage time.

If you wish to manage your time better and be happy and more productive at work, time management statistics indicate that you should get plenty (7-8 hours) of sleep, set realistic goals, plan your day, and be more organized.

Time Management Benefits

As per Retail Ritesh statistics, 14% of people who set goals are ten times more successful than those who don’t. It has been further found that 3% of people who write down their goals are three times more successful than those who don’t. So, if you wish to outperform yourself, try writing down your goals.

If you are happy and more productive, not only will your professional life improve, your personal and social life will improve as well. And this will also help you lead a stress-free experience.

So, take a quick look at your schedule, and find out you are a procrastinator who needs some time management training or are you a happy and productive person who never has to say, “I wish I had more time.”
