Have You Been Feeling Stressed Out Recently?  How Has That Affected Your Life?  Did You Find Any Change In Your Behaviour? Do You Know An Effective Way For Stress Management?

Every individual process stress in his or her own way and manner. A survey conducted by Integra in 2020 on stress management reports some interesting statistics on the effects of workplace stress.

As per this survey, 65% of workers said workplace stress had caused difficulties, and more than 10% described these as significant effects.  The survey findings indicate that 10% of people work in an atmosphere where physical violence has occurred because of job stress.  In this group, 42% of people confessed to yelling and using other verbal abuse, 29% said they had screamed at co-workers due to workplace stress, while 2% even admitted to striking someone.  Furthermore, 14% confessed to damaging workplace property or equipment because of rage.

What Is The Effect Of Stress On Health?

In the same survey, Integra also asked how people personally suffered from stress at work, and this is what they found:

  •  62% end the day with work-related neck pain
  • 34% reported difficulty in sleeping
  • 44% reported stressed-out eyes
  • 12% complained of hurting hands
  • 12% had called in sick because of job stress

Hence, the need is to understand what is causing this stress.

According to Employment Assistance Program provider ComPsych, a survey they conducted in 1st half of 2006 indicated:

Job-related stress is the highest amongst people. Over half of the people who participated in the Integra survey said they often spent 12-hours a day on work-related duties, and an equal number frequently skipped lunch due to the stress of job demands.

According to a New Study by National Public Radio, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Harvard School of Public Health, the main contributor to stress is presented below.

As per a 1998 UN study, occupational pressures are believed responsible for:

  • 30% of workers suffer from back pain
  • 28% complain of “stress.”
  • 20% feel fatigued
  • 13% with headaches

If you are anxious about your well-being, you need to learn how to lead a stress-free life. Don’t assume that work-related stress will ever become zero.  Hence, you must accept that it is a part of your job, and the workload and deadlines will be there, including people’s issues.

Moreover, there will be some degree of anxiety in your personal life also.  Stress due to personal relations, emotional problems such as financial issues, family issues, time management issues will be there.

Furthermore, there will always be some stress in your personal life due to relationships, emotional turbulence, finances, time management, etc.

While you cannot avoid stress altogether, you can surely learn how to manage it better. It will make your professional and personal life more enjoyable and help you move towards a more successful life.
